Discipline is what you do for
a child, not what you do to a child. From time to time children
need direction and discipline. By nature every child rebels
against parental and school controls that suppress his passions,
self-will and foolishness. Unchecked by direction and discipline,
these desires lead to a life of pleasurable behaviour, but
not productive achievement.
Our purpose in discipline is
to bring the children up in the instruction of the Lord so
that when they are old they will not depart from it (Ephesians
6:4, Proverbs 22:6).
We are also seeking that children
become self-disciplined within a framework of love and security.
This will enable pupils to foster a care for each other and
have value, self-respect, integrity and a heart for God’s
word.
Merit and Demerit System
Rewarding achievement is a sound
principle and encourages children to press on for greater
achievement. Privileges are awarded according to a scale of
industry, good behaviour, attainment and integrity.
This disciplinary policy is
effective through, the system of reasoning, praise and demerit.
The Demerit system leads to apprehension from playtime, task
assigned time frame, scriptural lines and prayer, helping
the staff to control and train each child.
Parents are notified that
there is a suspension and ultimately an expulsion policy in
place.
