Nursery &
Reception
The children cover important
aspects of personal, social, moral and spiritual development
including the development of personal values and an understanding
of others and our environment.
They are introduced to various learning apparatus or sensorial
exercises to explore new learning skills and show the ability
to initiate ideas to solve simple practical problems.
Language and Literacy
English skills are refined with a great emphasis on comprehension,
language and reading development. They are taught and helped
to acquire competence in these skills as early as possible.
They are given opportunities to make up their own stories
and take part in role-play with confidence (speaking, listening,
and numerate skills play an important part in this process).
They begin to associate sounds with patterns in rhymes, with
syllables, and with words and letters to form short sentences.
Our practical and major aim
of mathematics is to teach and help our pupils to be numerate
as early as possible. The ability and inclination to solve
numerical problems including those skills involving time,
weight, length, basic notions of money through projects. Humanity
subjects (Nature Study, Science, Geography, History and Art)
are introduced through relevant, exciting, informative and
practical projects.
Naturally during this busy day,
children have ample breaks in the morning and afternoon as
well as quiet time. The maximum class size in the department
is 8 to 1 or 14 to 1. Our small class size enables us to give
the individual attention each child needs when first developing
the skills of reading, writing and mathematics.
