The Prep Department
has children from ages seven to eleven. At this level the
children continue to improve and expand their knowledge and
skills with curriculum broadening to include Social Studies,
Research Projects and Verbal Reasoning. Homework increases
and pupils are expected to be self-motivated and matured enough
to complete all of the set assignments.
They are taught to calculate accurately, both
mentally and concretely, drawing on a range of strategies.
They are expected to explain their methods and reasoning
using correct mathematical terms and apparatus. Through
the use of attractive textbooks, carefully structured, flexible
and differentiated materials together with a variety of
teaching and assessment methods, the department encourages
all pupils to realise their full academic potentials.
Undoubtedly the years between 2 and 11 are
valued in this school as the most important in a child’s
learning process. Hence, during these years, we endeavour
to recognise potential, give motivation and form habits
of hard work, self-discipline and integrity.
At age 11, children leave to further their
educational careers at high achieving secondary schools
(with some gaining scholarships or bursary awards). They
are adequately prepared to take on the demands and high
expectation in such schools by the grace of God.
